A Future and a Hope

Trusting God through the waiting.

Scripture focus: Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV)

· Daily encouragement

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11, NKJV

Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that a difficult season does not mean God has abandoned us.

God spoke these words to His people while they were in exile. Their restoration would take time, but He had not forgotten them. His promise gave them hope while they waited.

This promise was first addressed to a community facing a long period away from home. It did not promise an immediate escape from hardship. It encouraged them to live faithfully, seek the welfare of the place where they were living and continue seeking God (Jeremiah 29:4–14).

Your present circumstances do not reveal the whole story. Keep praying, walking faithfully and trusting God with the steps ahead. His care for you remains steady, even when the future feels uncertain.

Hope gives us courage to take today’s faithful step. That may mean making time for prayer, asking for support or carrying out a responsibility we have been putting off. We can bring our fears before God and ask for wisdom as we move forward.

Prayer for today

Father, help me trust You when I cannot see the way forward. Give me peace in the waiting, wisdom for each step and renewed hope in Your promises. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Pause and reflect

What concern can you place into God’s hands today, and what faithful step can you take while you wait?
